What people say about us
I would just like to thank the manager, her deputy and all the wonderful staff at Ivybank House for the continued care and support given to my brother and myself. Their sheer dedication is truly admirable. They all make this home a very special place.
The team at Ivybank House Care Home in Bath are incredible. Every time I visit Dad, it's like going to see friends and family. The whole team get on so well and all work incredibly hard. They consistently go the extra mile for the residents. The food is excellent and the activities, socials and parties they organise are fantastic. We could not have found a better place for Dad.
We feel that the level of care that Mum is receiving could not be bettered. We knew that Mum can be "awkward" at times but she is always treated with dignity, respect and an appropriate level of humour. She's always smartly dressed, clean and with her hair looked after. All the staff deserve the highest praise.
Having gone into Ivybank House Care Home for a temporary stay five months ago, Dad soon decided that he wanted to stay permanently. He is full of praise for the care he receives from all the staff, their friendliness and the dignity with which they treat him.
Mum seems very settled and happy at Ivybank House Care Home. She enjoys the trips out and the activities provided. As long as she is happy, we are happy!
Since my mother-in-law has moved into Ivybank House it's given her a new lease of life. She's much more motivated and happier and now has a life amongst people who really look after her well. Being taken out on trips and involving her in everything they do. We couldn't wish for anything more.

Ivybank House Care Home is at Ivybank House Care Home.
π Carers Week β Get to Know Your Carer of the Week: Lois Danso π
Hello everyone! My name is Lois Danso, and I've been working at Ivybank for 3 years.
I am a mother, nurse, and carer who loves what I do. Caring for people, helping with their daily needs, and building meaningful relationships with residents brings me so much joy. Outside of work, I also enjoy cooking and catering, and I love sharing delicious Ghanaian delicacies with others.
One of the things I enjoy most about working in care is that every day is different. I get to spend time with our residents, share jokes, have a laugh, and sometimes just be a little silly together. They truly brighten my days and are my biggest motivation for coming to work.
My inspiration for becoming a carer came from my mum, and she continues to inspire me today.
My favourite parts of the role are mealtimes and palliative care. To me, good care means promoting independence and supporting people to live their lives with dignity and respect.
A few fun facts about me:
π² My favourite food is fufu with goat meat soup β I'm a very proud Ghanaian!
π΅ I enjoy listening to Nicki Minaj and Shatta Wale.
β I'm definitely a milky coffee person.
π If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would visit Turks and Caicos.
π¬ My favourite film is 6 Underground.
π©πΎβπ³ And yes, my favourite hobby is cooking β no surprises there!
If you asked the residents to describe me in three words, I hope they would say: funny, silly, and caring.
One achievement I'm particularly proud of at Ivybank is taking part in activities with residents and helping create enjoyable experiences for them. I'd also like to give a special mention to Aaqib, Andrew, and Maria from the night team, whose dedication and enthusiasm for their work inspire me every day.
Finally, to anyone joining the care profession: Good luck!
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little better! π

ππ§Ί Here is our very own Laundry Queen, Paula, who very rightly received Employee of the Month for April! π
A slight delay in sharing the news β sorry, Paula! π
Paula was nominated by our residents for always making sure clothes are returned the very same day, beautifully cleaned and ironed. πβ¨
Sheβs also known for always taking the time to stop for a chat π¬ and for spending quality time with residents as they help fold the cleaning cloths together. β€οΈ
Congratulations, Paula! π This award is so well deserved, and we are all incredibly proud of you. ππ

What a lovely week we've had at Ivybank! π
Our residents have been keeping active with a fun GFitness armchair exercise session πͺ
We also spent time in the garden, getting our hands dirty and enjoying some gardening activities π±, followed by a relaxing Knit & Natter session filled with conversation, creativity, and plenty of laughter. π§Ά
The beautiful weather made our afternoon tea in the garden extra special, with residents enjoying delicious treats and good company outdoors. βπ°π·
A highlight of the week was a visit from Lynne's gorgeous blue-eyed beauty, who brought lots of smiles, cuddles, and comfort during a wonderful dog therapy session. πΎπ
We were also delighted to hold a church service at the home, bringing residents together for a time of worship, reflection, and fellowship. βͺπ

π§βπ³π Michael, who has been assisting in our kitchen with the washing up, was delighted and very grateful to receive his very own apron!
Michael loves helping out and giving something back. He said, *"We all work so hard, and it's nice to help."* π
It's wonderful to see the pride, purpose, and sense of achievement that come from being involved in everyday tasks. Meaningful activities like these help build confidence, independence, and a strong sense of belonging. π
Thank you, Michael, for all your hard work and kindness! ππ
