What people say about us
I would just like to thank the manager, her deputy and all the wonderful staff at Ivybank House for the continued care and support given to my brother and myself. Their sheer dedication is truly admirable. They all make this home a very special place.
The team at Ivybank House Care Home in Bath are incredible. Every time I visit Dad, it's like going to see friends and family. The whole team get on so well and all work incredibly hard. They consistently go the extra mile for the residents. The food is excellent and the activities, socials and parties they organise are fantastic. We could not have found a better place for Dad.
We feel that the level of care that Mum is receiving could not be bettered. We knew that Mum can be "awkward" at times but she is always treated with dignity, respect and an appropriate level of humour. She's always smartly dressed, clean and with her hair looked after. All the staff deserve the highest praise.
Having gone into Ivybank House Care Home for a temporary stay five months ago, Dad soon decided that he wanted to stay permanently. He is full of praise for the care he receives from all the staff, their friendliness and the dignity with which they treat him.
Mum seems very settled and happy at Ivybank House Care Home. She enjoys the trips out and the activities provided. As long as she is happy, we are happy!
Since my mother-in-law has moved into Ivybank House it's given her a new lease of life. She's much more motivated and happier and now has a life amongst people who really look after her well. Being taken out on trips and involving her in everything they do. We couldn't wish for anything more.

Early morning flower arranging for our dining room tables, cheese and wine tasting, which was a great success! Finished the day with a little time in the garden and, of course, a knit and a natter. A lovely way to spend the day. 🌷🍷🧀

🌟 Get to Know Your Carer 🌟
👋 My name is David Nnamdi Nwaogu, and I am originally from 🇳🇬 Nigeria. I work as a Care Assistant and I have been with Welford Healthcare Ltd at Ivybank House Care Home in Bath, Somerset for one year and one month. 🏡💙
❤️ What I enjoy most about working in care is building trusting relationships with residents and helping them feel safe, listened to, and valued. I was inspired to become a carer because I have a genuine passion for supporting people with kindness, empathy, patience, and respect. 🤝😊 My favourite part of my role is seeing a resident relax or smile after I have reassured them, listened to their stories, or involved them in meaningful activities. 🌈✨
📚 Outside of work, I enjoy reading, learning, and watching positive, educational programmes, as they give me new ideas to support residents’ wellbeing. 🧠💡 An interesting fact about me is that I love using music, conversation, and simple activities to create moments of joy for residents. 🎵💬🎲 My favourite food or snack is simple, homely meals 🍲, and my favourite music or artist is anything calming or uplifting that can be enjoyed by our residents. 🎶😊 I enjoy both ☕ tea and coffee, especially when shared during a warm conversation. 💬🤗
🌅 What motivates me each day is knowing that even small acts of care can make a big difference to a resident’s mood, comfort, and dignity. 💖 Good care means treating every resident as a unique individual, promoting independence, protecting dignity, and always putting safety and wellbeing first. 🛡️🏡 If I could travel anywhere, I would visit places rich in culture and history 🌍🏛️ to better understand people’s lives. My favourite films and TV programmes are thoughtful and informative. 🎬📺
🎯 My favourite hobby is learning new ways to engage residents. 🧩🎨🎵
💙 If residents described me in three words, I hope they would say passionate, empathetic, and respectful. 😊 What makes me smile at work is seeing residents happy, relaxed, and included. 🌞🤗 I am most proud of being part of a team that consistently delivers high-quality, person-centred care. 🏆💙 The colleague who inspires me most is our current managers, whose creativity, high standards, and genuine care for residents and staff encourage me to keep improving. 🌟👏
💡 My advice to new carers is: always listen, be patient, show empathy, and remember that every interaction matters to our amazing residents. ❤️🤝🌻
Thank you. 🙏😊💙

🌟 Carers Week – Get to Know Your Carer of the Week: Lois Danso 🌟
Hello everyone! My name is Lois Danso, and I've been working at Ivybank for 3 years.
I am a mother, nurse, and carer who loves what I do. Caring for people, helping with their daily needs, and building meaningful relationships with residents brings me so much joy. Outside of work, I also enjoy cooking and catering, and I love sharing delicious Ghanaian delicacies with others.
One of the things I enjoy most about working in care is that every day is different. I get to spend time with our residents, share jokes, have a laugh, and sometimes just be a little silly together. They truly brighten my days and are my biggest motivation for coming to work.
My inspiration for becoming a carer came from my mum, and she continues to inspire me today.
My favourite parts of the role are mealtimes and palliative care. To me, good care means promoting independence and supporting people to live their lives with dignity and respect.
A few fun facts about me:
🍲 My favourite food is fufu with goat meat soup – I'm a very proud Ghanaian!
🎵 I enjoy listening to Nicki Minaj and Shatta Wale.
☕ I'm definitely a milky coffee person.
🌍 If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would visit Turks and Caicos.
🎬 My favourite film is 6 Underground.
👩🏾🍳 And yes, my favourite hobby is cooking – no surprises there!
If you asked the residents to describe me in three words, I hope they would say: funny, silly, and caring.
One achievement I'm particularly proud of at Ivybank is taking part in activities with residents and helping create enjoyable experiences for them. I'd also like to give a special mention to Aaqib, Andrew, and Maria from the night team, whose dedication and enthusiasm for their work inspire me every day.
Finally, to anyone joining the care profession: Good luck!
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little better! 💙
